My Research focuses on the regulation of mitochondrial gene expression and the impact of
mitochondrial mutations in common and rare disease.

Postdoctoral Fellow:  University of Pennsylvania (Genetics)
M.D., Ph.D.:  University of Chicago
B.A.: Harvard College (Biology)

Fields of Interest:

  • Genetic Models of Development and Disease

  • Molecular Medicine and Human Genetics

Research Interests:

Mitochondrial DNA variants act as either a low penetrance risk factor for common disorders or as a high penetrance cause of frank mitochondrial failure. In the lab, we study how mitochondrial variants interact with each other and with the nuclear genome to impact organellar function.
