We are interested in the genetic control of development, focussing on the genes that determine sex in the nematode Caenorhabditis elegans. We described a novel form of epigenetic regulation that depends upon maternally contributed RNA to license gene expression in the germline of the next generation, and we are using genetic and genomic approaches to understand its mechanism.
