Biosketch:

Susan Armel, MSc, MS, MScCH, CGC, received a Master of Science degree in Medical Biophysics from the University of Toronto in 1994, a Master of Science degree in Genetic Counselling from Sarah Lawrence College in 1999, and a Master of Science degree in Community Health, with a focus on health practitioner teacher education, from the University of Toronto in 2010. In 1999, she was certified in Genetic Counselling by the American Board of Genetic Counseling and joined the genetics department at North York General Hospital. In 2000 Susan joined the Familial Breast and Ovarian Cancer Clinic at Princess Margaret Cancer Center (PMCC).  She is a senior genetic counsellor (PMCC), a lecturer at the University of Toronto, and in 2013 was appointed Assistant Program Director – Clinical Supervision and Learning of the MSc Program in Genetic Counselling at the University of Toronto.  Additionally, she is a principal investigator and co-investigator on a number of research studies related to hereditary breast and ovarian cancer syndrome, and in research related to the provision of genetic counselling. Susan has also served as a genetic counselling program accreditation site visitor for the American Board of Genetic Counseling, and as the Treasurer, Education Chair, and Scientific Planning Co-Chair for the Canadian Association of Genetic Counsellors. Susan is a member of the NSGC and ABGC.
