Laura Winter, MSc, CGC earned a Master of Science degree in Genetic Counselling from the University of Toronto in 2011, and prior to that an Honours Bachelor of Science degree in Forensic Science and Biology from the University of Toronto, Mississauga Campus. Laura worked in New Zealand for two years, first as a Family History Assessor and then as the Auckland Regional Coordinator with the New Zealand Familial Gastrointestinal Cancer Service. In early 2014 she joined the Familial Gastrointestinal Cancer Registry (FGICR) at Mount Sinai Hospital. In addition to being involved with the research registry, Laura’s primary role is as a clinical genetic counsellor, where she focuses on families with hereditary gastrointestinal cancer and familial polyposis. Laura has an appointment with the University of Toronto where she is involved with the genetic counselling program as a clinical supervisor for the Master's students and in reviewing new applications for the program. Laura has been certified in Genetic Counselling by the American Board of Genetic Counseling since 2012. Laura is a member of both the Canadian Association of Genetic Counsellors (CAGC) and the National Society of Genetic Counselors (NSGC).
