This course will begin with an organizational session and an introduction to statistics and computation as pertains to large-scale data sets, including an overview of practical aspects (data formats, common tools, and available resources). Typical goals and individual cases will then be examined in detail in presentations by faculty and students. Data types to be discussed include sequence, micro arrays, interaction networks, mass spectrometry, and structural biology. A session will also be devoted to methods for combining and leveraging among multiple data types.
