Members of the department participate in two interdepartmental collaborative specializations—Developmental Biology and Genome Biology and Bioinformatics—that provide students with the opportunity to benefit from the wealth of expertise in the University of Toronto community in research areas spanning the boundaries between traditional departments. Fellow participating departments include Cell & Systems Biology, Biochemistry, Immunology, Physiology, Institute of Medical Science, Institute of Biomaterials and Biomedical Engineering, and Laboratory Medicine & Pathobiology.
