Fields of Interest:

  • Genetic Models of Development and Disease

  • Cellular and Molecular Structure and Function

Research Interests:

The Hurd lab is focused on determining how mitochondrial DNA is inherited from mother to offspring, and how mitochondria influence stem cell fate and differentiation. We use an integrative approach that includes molecular genetics, cell biology and state-of-the art microscopy in the model organism Drosophila melanogaster and in mammalian cells.
